Community Housing of Wyandotte County's (CHWC) mission is to stabilize, revitalize, and reinvest in Kansas City, Kansas neighborhoods through improved housing and other quality of life initiatives.

CHWC has:

Generated more than $74,000,000 in total investments in Kansas City Kansas*

Created more than 400 new homeowners*

Built over 500 new and rehab homes in Kansas City Kansas*


Educated and/or counseled 2,122 households*


Renovated Waterway Park from an eyesore to a beautiful park full of community activity


Provided art programming in the park for approximately 160 underserved children


Added 30 large murals and solar lighting in alleys that reduced vandalism and decreased graffiti

Historic Firestation #9

Our headquarters are located in Historic Firestation #9 on 14th and Central in KCK. Built by Architect William E. Harris, the station was declared a Historic Landmark on June 16, 1983. The fire station was placed in the Register of Historic Kansas Places on July 3, 1979 and the National Register of Historic Places on September 5, 1985.
