Our History

In 1998, Catholic Housing of Wyandotte County was formed by the Archdiocese of Kansas City, Kansas to address housing and neighborhood issues in three targeted neighborhoods: St. Peter, St. Joseph/St. Benedict and Strawberry Hill. In 2002, Catholic Housing merged with Neighborhood Housing Services of Kansas City, Kansas to become what is today Community Housing of Wyandotte County, Inc. (CHWC).  CHWC now serves seven urban core neighborhoods of Kansas City, KS: Prescott, Bethany, St. Peter/Waterway, St. Joseph/St. Benedict, Chelsea, Riverview, and Strawberry Hill.  CHWC focuses our work on these core neighborhoods of Kansas City, Kansas. However, when invited, CHWC works in other Wyandotte County neighborhoods.
