More Than Rooftops

On the evening of September 6th, 253 friends and partners of CHWC gathered on the elegantly-decorated rooftop at The Legends for a relaxing evening of music, drinks, food, and fireworks. The celebration, which will be an annual tradition, is called the “Rooftop Party for Rooftops;” the name captures the energy and care of a community that enables us to build vibrant neighborhoods together.

 

 

An impressive variety of guests came to celebrate with CHWC at this year’s Rooftop Party. Notable attendees included Mayor David Alvey and Commissioner Brian McKiernan, as well as neighborhood leaders from CHWC’s areas of service, CHWC homeowners, and guests from partner organizations.

 

 

 

The evening opened with a reception of food and live music as guests arrived, greeted each other, and explored the photo gallery of CHWC’s work. Co-chair and board member Sandra Olivas made her way to the stage to thank attendees for sharing their evening. She introduced Executive Director of CHWC Brennan Crawford, who made a short introductory statement about the organization.

 

 

 

Crawford was followed up by co-chair and former Executive Director Susan Carroll, who gave a testimonial about her work at CHWC over the years in many different capacities. Honorary Chairs Rick and Beth Lane then shared their own commitment to the organization and introduced Jeff Lipp.

 

 

 

 

Lipp was awarded the Continue the Legacy, Center Circle Award by CHWC “founding father,” Monsignor Tom Tank. He was surrounded by family and friends, and used the opportunity to tell all of our guests about his experiences volunteering at CHWC and how much he was encouraged and inspired the work it has accomplished over the years.

 

 

 

 

 

After the ceremony, guests gathered around tables to catch up with old friends and connect with new ones. The lively photo booth, silent auction and raffle proved to be a draw, and many lingered for hours after the ceremony to continue talking with friends and enjoying food and drinks.

 

 

 

 

The evening was wrapped up with a gorgeous fireworks display and the announcement of the silent auction and raffle winners. Attendees remained long into the evening to continue talking with friends.

 

 

CHWC would like to thank everyone who made this event so enjoyable and meaningful, including our many dedicated board and committee members, volunteers, staff members, guests, and donors. It was an honor to see new faces experiencing for the first time the work of many to transform our neighborhoods.

CHWC’s work is about “more than rooftops,” and this was evident the night of September 6th – our community extends beyond homes to the spaces where we gather, and to the network of friends and partners that sustain us.
